Japanese keepsake box

It’s a box. With a simple wood lock system. Walnut, with some paduk inlays and tapered legs.

It’s basically just splined miter joints and dowels for the handle. It’s not the strongest, but after a lot of sanding and some boiled linseed oil it looks pretty. I’ll likely shove some papers in it, promptly forget about them, and then place the box in a closet for the next 7 or 8 months. After which, this box will be a pleasant surprise to stumble across.

Until I open it and realize my lender did send me that bill after all. Sorry Debra from the credit union, you were right all along.
